April and Kevin’s engagement session was the sweetest reminder of why I love photographing couples in places that are meaningful to them!

We spent the evening at a friend’s beautiful North Carolina farm: a thoughtfully chosen setting that’s full of charm and meaning, and one that will also be the backdrop for their wedding portraits! From the rustic red barn and weathered wooden fences to the soft glow of golden-hour light, every corner of the farm felt warm and inviting. And of course, a few curious chickens who absolutely stole the show in some of the photos. It was the kind of setting that invites you to slow down, laugh a little more, and simply enjoy being together.

April and Kevin are such kind people! Their love is gentle, joyful, and so easy to photograph. Whether they were wrapped up in a quiet moment together, laughing as they walked hand in hand, or leaning into one another with effortless comfort, their connection was undeniable. You can feel how deeply they care for each other just by the way they look at each other.

One of my favorite things about engagement sessions is that they’re about so much more than just creating beautiful images (though these are definitely ones you’ll want to frame!). Engagement sessions are a chance to get comfortable in front of the camera, to learn how I’ll guide you on your wedding day, and to simply enjoy being together without any pressure. They’re also perfect for photos you can use for save-the-dates, wedding invitations, and sharing your excitement with friends and family.

Spending this time with April and Kevin was such a joy. Their excitement for marriage, their kindness toward one another, and their overflowing joy made this session feel so natural and meaningful. I already know their wedding day is going to be incredibly special, and I cannot wait to capture even more memories for them in this beautiful place.

April & Kevin, thank you for trusting me with this season of your story. I’m counting down the days until your wedding day 🤍
